Honey Island Elementary School is a kindergarten through second grade elementary school located in Slidell, Louisiana. DonahueFavret Contractors was contracted by the St. Tammany Parish School Board for the much needed project, which was designed to accommodate the growing population of St. Tammany Parish, and to provide young school children with a contemporary, inviting environment in which to learn.

The construction consisted of combining a pre-engineered building, structural steel and metal roof panels on a 70,000 square foot post tension slab. Painted concrete block walls were utilized throughout the facility. Each classroom is equipped with custom casework, chalk and tack boards and thru-wall air conditioners. The total cost of the project was $2,813,000 and it was completed according to schedule in 360 days.
