Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Elementary School is based
on the uniqueness of each child and the partnership shared
between the school and the family to help young people
grow and mature into Catholic adults. Their style of learning
is based within a vibrant and creative environment that
is rooted in faith, worship and values. The curriculum
follows not only the Archdiocesan curriculum guidelines,
but state and national standards as well.
The school first opened in August, 1996 with only thirty-eight
students attending Kindergarten, First, and Second grades
within the church complex. DonahueFavret Contractors began
construction on the permanent facility, using a conventional
structural steel framing system retrofit with a standing
seam metal roofing system. The exterior walls are constructed
of masonry, with cement plaster soffits. In the fall of 1998,
the new school building was opened, including nine classrooms,
administrative offices, a full service cafeteria, and maintenance
workshop. The finished project was completed in only 300
days.
