DAILY UPDATE FOR 2/19/06

Summary of Yesterday’s Progress and Build Facts:

• Packed up church’s belongings and loaded them on to moving trucks to be stored through the duration of the build
• The show’s designers spent hours in the church discussing ideas and plans, and filming scenes
• Prepped the church for renovation and secured the site
• Set-up the surrounding facilities, such as catering sites, media and VIP tents, spectator areas, volunteer check-in, etc.

• Filming of the “Braveheart” scene where hundreds of volunteers and workers rush the church, ready to get started!
• DEMOLITION of damaged areas of the church

Featured Profile: Roof Technologies and All Star Electric:

Roof Technologies: This company had it’s headquarters damaged by Katrina but rebounded quickly. They have literally been performing roofing service work since the storm. They have provided vital services to hundreds of businesses and residents by helping them to repair their roof damage so they can return to business. These dedicated professionals provided a watertight structure for the restoration project.
All Star Electric: This large electrical contractor jumped at the opportunity to participate in EXTREME MAKEOVER. In the days immediately following the storms they worked to help homeowners and business owners repair damages so that when power was restored to the area they could safely return to the business of living.
