MedCath proudly opened their tenth hospital nationwide, dedicated solely to advanced care for patients with heart disease. The Louisiana Heart Hospital, located in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, was constructed by DonahueFavret Contractors, Inc. The $20 million pile supported structure covers an area of 108,000 square feet, including four oversized operating suites, four cath labs and electrophysiology labs. Every patient room in the hospital is private and equipped for critical care. Other areas include nuclear medicine, CT scans and an MRI on the second floor. The facility was built according to Miami Dade hurricane standards to satisfy the Factory Mutual Global Underwriters and includes two emergency backup generators. It is supported by its own 2,000 foot deep water well with a 20,000 gallon tank and 55,000 gallon per day sewer treatment plant. The project was completed in 13 months with no serious injuries reported by over 260 men and women laboring at peak production time working ten hours per day, six days per week. DonahueFavret Contractors actually completed the project a month ahead of schedule, enabling the medical team to begin patient treatment earlier than expected. The hospital employs a staff of 180 professional physicians, nurses and technicians offering an unsurpassed level of cardiology care and emergency medical treatment. DonahueFavret Contractors, Inc. was proud to partner with MedCath Hospitals in their endeavor to bring a new level of expertise in the battle against heart disease. The new facility will service the North Shore region of Louisiana as well as the surrounding counties in Mississippi.
