The St. Christopher Best Western Hotel was one of the most
difficult restorations ever undertaken by DonahueFavret
Contractors. The original building at 114 Magazine Street
in downtown New Orleans was constructed in the early 1890’s.
In 1996, Hotel Partners LLC bought the building to convert
it to a hotel. Demolition consisted of completely gutting
the entire eight-story structure including removal of one
entire floor. This allowed the addition of a mezzanine
and two new floors bringing the building to a total of
ten stories. The final square footage totaled 58,000 square
feet, including 108 guest rooms and 3,500 square feet of
bar and meeting areas. Final review and approval were given
by both the National Park Service and the New Orleans Historic
District Landmark Commission.
