DonahueFavret Contractors, Inc. has been awarded three Excellence in Construction Awards by Associated Builders and Contractors Bayou Chapter. The award ceremony was held November 5 at Chateau Country Club in Kenner, LA.
The awards were received for the Louisiana Army National Guard Bogalusa Readiness Center project, the Centennial Improvements -- New Orleans Public Belt Railroad project, and the 200 Carondelet project. These projects are now eligible to compete in the national competition.
The Bogalusa Readiness Center was winner in the Pre-Engineered Building category. The new 45,795-square-foot, state-of-the-art center, home to 114 soldiers of the 205th Engineer Battalion, replaces the former armory that had been in Bogalusa since 1916. DonahueFavret Contractors, Inc. of Mandeville, LA, led the design-build project team.
The New Orleans Public Belt Railroad project won the Renovation -- $4-10 Million category. The facility in New Orleans is celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2008. The project included the renovation of a 12,000-square-foot Round House, exterior renovation of the Administration Building, and the new construction of a 3,000-square-foot Support Building, a 3,000-square-foot Storage Building, and a 2,000-square-foot Car Shed.
200 Carondelet was winner in the Historical Restoration -- $10-100 Million category. The project involves the restoration and conversion of the former National American Bank Building in New Orleans, LA, into a mixed-income, high-quality rental property. The building, originally built in 1929, contains 190,000 square feet over 24 floors and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
