Rising to success, Sam Walton built Wal-Mart on the revolutionary philosophies
of excellence in the workplace and customer service. He strongly believed
in exceeding customer's expectations. DonahueFavret Contractors did just
that when asked to construct the Wal-Mart Store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Following through on their own "commitment to construction excellence" motto,
DFC completed the structure exactly as scheduled without one request for
extension of time, despite 180 days of constant bad weather. The concrete
block and steel structure covered a grand total of 129,000 square feet. Interior
buildout also included construction of a McDonald's, optical and pharmaceutical
departments, a photo lab and an eight bay automotive service area. In preparation
for a future Sam’s Store, DFC's contract included parking lots for
both stores. The massive tract contained over 650,000 square feet of concrete
paving. Total cost of the project was $4,135,000.
